Vienna · New Year's Eve Trail
31 Dec 2026, 2pm–1 Jan 2027, 2am
Vienna Tourism confirms the city-centre New Year's Eve Trail. Plan around the published programme; this is not a promise of a particular fireworks display. Official details
Our planning suggestion: Our pick for music and a city walk. Check the journey home, a meeting point and an indoor alternative in advance.

London · official New Year's Eve fireworks
31 Dec 2026, 8pm–1 Jan 2027, 12:30am
City Hall announces the first ticket release for 23 October 2026 at noon London time. Official viewing areas require a ticket; Ticketmaster is the official seller. Official details
Our planning suggestion: Secure the official event ticket and viewing area first, then consider cancellable travel and accommodation. A cruise or museum ticket does not replace that event ticket.
Edinburgh · Hogmanay
29 Dec 2026–1 Jan 2027; Street Party on 31 Dec from 8pm
The organiser publishes a multi-day programme and the Street Party on 31 December. Check tickets and entry conditions on the individual event listing. Official details
Our planning suggestion: Our pick for a multi-day festival trip. Leave an arrival buffer and check age limits, entry arrangements and cancellation terms for each event.
Funchal · Madeira
Festive season 1 Dec 2026–10 Jan 2027; New Year 31 Dec/1 Jan
Visit Madeira publishes the festive-season dates and describes New Year's Eve fireworks as a highlight. Check individual viewpoints, transport and bookable offers separately. Official details
Our planning suggestion: Our pick for an island stay over several days. Choose accommodation around your evening and return journey; confirm any promised view with the provider.
A useful booking order for New Year's Eve
- Decide whether a particular event is the reason for the trip. If so, check that event's official ticket seller and conditions first.
- Choose travel dates and flexible booking terms where possible. For an important New Year's Eve event, we suggest an arrival buffer rather than landing late on 31 December.
- Check the route between accommodation, the event and the journey home. A published evening programme does not secure your return transport.
- Plan 1 January separately: check opening times, the return flight and any luggage storage directly with providers.
- Recheck the official programme in your travel week. Prepare a weather-appropriate alternative for outdoor events.
